Rehab Services
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy involves the treatment of illnesses or injuries that result in the loss of strength, motion, endurance, balance, coordination and sensation.
Conditions treated include athletic injuries, post-surgery rehabilitation, stroke and other neurological conditions, wounds, work-related injuries, back and neck injuries, and more.
New services offered through PMH include Aquatic Therapy and High Level Strength Training at the YMCA in Winamac.
This partnership allows access to the pool, cardiovascular, and weight equipment. As a bonus, PMH gives a one-month free membership to all clients involved in this program.
Also, through the YMCA, the hospital offers massage therapy for those clients who may benefit from referral to this service.
This along with current services offered help to complete our continuum of care to our clients.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists (OT) work with people of all ages, who, because of physical , social or emotional deficits, need specialized assistance in learning skills to enable them to lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives.
Working closely with the primary and specialty physicians, OT is designed to maximize the patient's return to independence and productivity in the shortest time possible.
Those who may benefit from OT include those with work related injuries, stroke or heart attack, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, children with birth injuries, learning disabilities, developmental delays, burns, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and broken bones.
Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy (ST) involves the rehabilitation of speech, language, cognitive and swallowing skills, which may deteriorate as a result of stroke, Parkinson's disease, other neurological disorders, head trauma and cancer.
The PMH Speech-Language Pathologist works with a variety of patients including early intervention through First Steps program, school age pediatrics, hospital inpatients, outpatients, long-term care patients and home health clients.
Modified barium swallows (cookie swallows) are also performed at PMH by the radiologist and speech therapist.
