Families First


Families First is a grant funded, community-based group of programs coordinated by Pulaski Memorial Family Centered Care. All services are provided at no cost to the clients by a team of highly trained professionals and there are no income restrictions.

Sweet Beginnings
The #1 goal of Sweet Beginnings is to ensure that prenatal care is readily available to the mothers of Pulaski County by providing early prenatal care resulting in healthy mothers and babies. Sweet Beginnings is a walk-in clinic for free pregnancy testing and risk assessment available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. No appointment is needed. Any of the seven nurses employed with Families First can provide services, which include urine pregnancy testing, blood pressure reading and risk assessment. Sweet Beginnings can help you find financial and medical care, with referral to doctor, financial assistance, prenatal and infant nutrition, and support services. And remember, all your information is strictly confidential!

Parents As Teachers
Provides parents with valuable information to give their baby the best possible start in life. These home visiting services are provided twice a month and focus on growth, development, early literacy, and school readiness.

Healthy Families
Provides services designed to promote positive parenting skills and development screenings. These services may continue until the child starts school.

Immunization Clinic
Offers childhood vaccinations.

Lead Poisoning Prevention & Screening
Provides free blood tests with assessment of risk factors.

Hoosier Healthwise
Financial coverage for pregnancy costs.

Safe Kids Chapter
Participates in child passenger, bicycle, home and Halloween safety education and child safety seat distribution.

Denver Examination
Designed to detect developmental deviation in infants and young children before they start school.

Alternative Education Program
Provides an alternative classroom setting for middle and high school students to prepare for ISTEP, GED, SAT and other testing programs.

Positive Parenting Classes
Provides instruction on parenting in a group setting. There are two classes available: General parenting and Parenting of Teens.

Smoking Cessation Program
Provides individually tailored classes for those are ready to stop the use of tobacco products. Group sessions also available twice monthly for additional support. Presentations to businesses on program services are available by request.




Supervised Visitation Program
Provision of supervised visits for children in the child welfare system.

Community Training
Provide CPR/First Aid/Universal Precautions for childcare providers and foster parents. TB tests also administered and read to keep providers in compliance with state regulations. Other training available as requested.
