Very responsive...

Patients in the Emergency Department are now on the receiving end of high-speed "teleradiology" if they need any type of diagnostic imaging. This is especially important for off hours and weekend visits. Turnaround time has been cut from nearly an hour to just a few minutes. With this quick diagnosis patients receive treatment much faster.

Diagnostic equipment is available for determining cardiac enzyme levels which allows the physicians to know quickly if there are markers for heart failure or heart injury.

"There are procedures that should be done at a large city hospital. But a lot of things, especially routine treatments even including heart failure, heart attacks and stroke, can be managed very successfully here."

--Brian Johnson, M.D., Family Medicine

If a transfer is needed, there are two options - land or air ambulance. One of the helicopters that serves PMH is located at the Rochester airport, and can arrive in Winamac just 15 minutes after being dispatched. The air ambulance can have a heart patient to Indianapolis in approximately 30 minutes.
